UPDATE: Grand Forks Police Arrest Man for Attempted Murder

A Grand Forks man has been charged with Attempted Murder, Terrorizing and Reckless Endangerment, after a gun was fired in an apartment Thursday night.
Police responded to this apartment at 1850 South 34th Street at 11:30 Thursday night, after getting a report of gunfire. When they arrived on the scene they found Mohamed Aweis Mohamed being detained by a man. The two men had apparently just gotten into a fight.
Lt. Derik Zimmel, Grand Forks Police: “My understanding is that this was an argument, a confrontation. A gun was pulled. There was a struggle for the gun and the gun was fired.”
Reporter: “No one was hit?”
Zimmel: “That’s correct.”
Zimmel says he doesn’t know what caused the fight between the two men.

A man is in jail for attempted murder in Grand Forks after an early morning fight at an apartment building.

Police say 31-year-old Mohamed Mohamed was arrested after he allegedly discharged a firearm during a disturbance.

Mohamed was being detained by the victim when they arrived.
