A non-profit that helps inspire girls to feel confident in who they are wrapped up it's first season with a 5-K.
"Girls On The Run" is a program for 3rd through 5th grade girls.
The group held it's first run at Lindenwood Park this morning.
Dozens of women and girls came out to join in the fun.
The Valley Today's Lisa Budeau was the race ambassador and came out to share some motivational words.
The mission is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident while creatively integrating running and exercise into the lessons.
"They had such a great experience, the girls involved bonded, it was a little bittersweet for them. I think it was great to see what they've accomplished, but they were sad to see the season end," JoEllen Petrick, the program director, said.
Girls On The Run sessions are held over a 10 week period in the fall and spring.
The next program starts up in March.
