Fargo Police now say they believe one man is to blame for two murders in north Fargo within a 24 hour period. Police have arrested Ashley Hunter on two counts of murder. They say he turned himself in early Tuesday morning.
Police are linking Hunter to the death of a 45-year-old man who was found Monday afternoon and a 24-year-old man who was found around 12:30 Tuesday morning. Fargo Police say both victims died from injuries consistent with violence. Investigators initiated two separate homicide investigations.
Lt. Joel Vettel tells Valley News Live Hunter was found near the 1100 block of 12th Street North in the same area where officers are investigating the second murder.
The Fargo Catholic Diocese owns the north Fargo apartment building where a body was discovered early Tuesday morning. Diocese spokeswoman Aliceyn Magelky says the building was purchased as part of a plan to expand the Newman Center.
She says she doesn't know how many people live in the building at 1122 12th Street North. People at the Newman Center tell Valley News Live NDSU students and former students typically live in the home.
Police started looking for Hunter Monday afternoon after discovering a dead man in a north Fargo apartment.
The murder was described as violent in nature. The name of the victims will not be released until Wednesday, according to police.
