FARGO, ND (Valley News Live) Saturday was the first of two day Fargo Moorhead Comic Con event. It is the sixth year for the comic and pop culture celebration.
Local and regional vendors along with fans filled the Baymont Inn & Suites conference center in Fargo.
It's not just all comics, they were jewelry action figures and video games. The family friendly atmosphere also offered a costume contest for kids.
Children dressed up in their favorite pop culture characters. There was a Mario and Luigi team, Elsa from Disney's Frozen and a baby Batman. The overall winner of the contest was Bucky Barnes, the sidekick to Captain America.
There is an adult costume contest Saturday starting at 8 p.m.
"It is a way to cut loose and have a little fun, dress up in customs. It like Mardi Gras and Halloween thrown together in a weekend. It is very family friendly, especially during the day, at night we have some fun parties and very low cost to get in. Its only $7. said F-M Comic Con Chairman, Tony Tilton.
Tilton expects more than a thousand people to turn out for the event.
Comic Con continues Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
