GRAND FORKS, N.D. (UND Athletics) -- The path was winding but the goal was achieved in North Dakota's 85-62 win over Southwest Minnesota State Monday evening at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center. The Fighting Hawks ripped off the first 19 points and appeared to be in control until the Mustangs immediately answered to tie the score at 26-26 as the home team watched itb big lead evaporate in mere minutes.
UND (7-3), however, withstood its dry spell behind five players scoring double figures to etch the 11th straight win at home, dating back to last season. Junior Lexi Klabo continued her dominance, scoring a game-high 26 while adding five rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocks in 24 minutes. Bailey Strand chipped in 11 points while Melissa Dailey, Fallyn Freije and Akealy Moton contributed 10 points apiece.
North Dakota closes out its non-conference slate Thursday with a rivalry game at South Dakota in a rematch of last season's WNIT. Tip time is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. from Vermillion, S.D.
