SAN ANTONIO, Texas (NDSU Athletics) -- Senior Drew Fearing belted his first career home run and fellow senior Logan Busch hit what proved to be the game-winning double as North Dakota State rallied from a one-run deficit to defeat Incarnate Word, 4-3, in 10 innings Saturday, Feb. 17, at Sullivan Field.
NDSU (2-1) is scheduled to play UIW (1-2) in the series finale of the four-game series Sunday, Feb. 18, at 1 p.m.
With the Bison trailing 3-2 entering the top of the eighth inning, Fearing blasted the first pitch he saw over the left field wall to knot the game at three.
NDSU reliever Parker Harm kept the Cardinals off the scoreboard in the bottom of the eighth and ninth innings, sending the contest to extra innings.
Jayse McLean hit a one-out single to right field, before Busch connected on a 3-1 pitch for a double, allowing McLean to cross home plate to put the Bison in front, 4-3.
After hitting a batter to lead-off the bottom-half of the 10th, North Dakota State closer Kevin Folman worked two ground outs and a fly out to secure the NDSU victory.
Busch collected three hits, including two doubles, and drove in two runs, while Fearing, McLean and Sean Noel each compiled two hits to lead the Bison in the batter's box.
Harm (1-0) earned the win on the mound for NDSU after pitching five scoreless innings in relief with three strikeouts and two walks, and Folman collected his first save of 2018 after tossing a scoreless 10th inning.
Eddy Gonzalez and Kyle Bergeron each had two hits, pacing Incarnate Word at the plate.
UIW reliever Cody Allen (0-1) suffered the loss after allowing two earned runs on five hits with three strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings.
