Long run boosts UND past UTSA for third straight win

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (UND Athletics) -- A long defensive stretch that kept host UTSA scoreless for over 10 minutes pushed North Dakota to a 60-47 win Saturday afternoon in the final game of the UTSA Thanksgiving Classic. UND ended the first half on a 15-0 run then scored the first four of the second half to effectively put the game out of reach.

Junior Lexi Klabo scored in double figures for the fifth time in five games this season, registering 17 and adding nine rebounds for UND's three-game winning streak. Fallyn Freije added 10 points and five rebounds while Melissa Dailey and Bailey Strand each chipped in nine points.

"We got back to back wins in back to back days on a long road trip against two very strong, athletic teams," UND head coach Travis Brewster said. "This team has excellent effort and attitude. They’ve gotten better since the beginning of the season with so many new faces."

North Dakota now heads home to play Northern Iowa next Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center.
