Officers searching for inmate on the loose in Fergus Falls, MN

FERGUS FALLS, Minn. (Valley News Live) The Fergus Falls Police Department and the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office are looking for an inmate who left his work crew on Tuesday afternoon.

Around noon yesterday, inmate James Fitzpatrick Helps was on a, “Sentence to Serve” crew when he slipped away unseen.

The crew leader noticed him missing soon later and checked the immediate area but could not find Helps.

A Sergeant with the Fergus Falls Police Department tells Valley News Live that the inmate has not been found at this time.

Helps is serving time for a 2nd Degree assault with a dangerous weapon charge.

Authorities say Helps is not considered a danger to the community.
