UPDATE: Police ID body found in Crookston house fire

CROOKSTON, Minn. (Valley News Live) The body discovered in a house fire early Sunday morning has been identified.

The Crookston Police Department said the victim was 40-year-old Immanuel LaRochelle.

LaRochelle was the only person in the home.

Preliminary indications are that the fire was accidental, and it's believed smoke detectors in the home were not operational.

Autopsy results are pending. The incident is under investigation with the assistance of the state fire marshal.

At approximately 2:33 a.m., the Crookston Fire and Police departments, with assistance from Crookston Area Ambulance, were dispatched to 214 4th Ave. North on a report of a house fire.

After the fire had been extinguished, the body was discovered inside the home. The body was taken to the UND Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

The damage to the home is extensive..

Polk County Sheriff’s Office dispatchers and deputies assisted in the incident.
