Name released in fatal Moorhead fire

UPDATE: The Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the victim as 68-year old Phillip Sigurd Skatvold.

Skatvold lived in the home with his adult daughter who was also present at the time of the fire.

The daughter was taken to Sanford hospital where she was treated and released a short time after. A third person in the house at the time of the fire was still hospitalized.

ORIGINAL: One person is dead and two other people are injured as a result of Friday morning’s duplex fire in Moorhead.

Valley News Live is told crews arrived to find the fire engulfing most of the main floor at 2424 Country Club Parkway. Crews report two women were able to get out before the Fire Department arrived, and the neighbors were also able to get out.

The bulk of the fire was put out by 2:13 a.m., however the investigation continued. During a search of the structure a man’s body was found in the rubble.

His cause of death is still being determined, and Moorhead Fire, Moorhead Police, the State Fire Marshal, BCA and the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives are continuing to investigate.
An autopsy is planned down at the Ramsey County Medical Examiners Office in the twin cities.
