Motorcyclist killed when bike collides with deer

BENA, Minn. (Valley News Live) A Prior Lake, MN man is dead after his motorcycle collided with a deer in Minnesota's Cass County.

Cass County Sheriff Tom Burch says the crash happened on Saturday June 17, 2017 at 5:40 PM.

Deputies were called out on a report of a motorcycle vs. deer crash on the West Winnie Road (County 91) in rural Bena, MN.

Authorities say a group of motorcycles was travelling north on County 91 when a deer ran onto the roadway striking a 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle, throwing its driver off the machine.

The victim, identified as Glen Sass, age 54, of Prior Lake MN, was treated on scene and transported via Sanford AirMed to a Fargo Hospital, where he died from injuries sustained from the crash.

Assisting at the scene was the Leech Lake Tribal Police, Pike Bay Township Police, Deer River Ambulance Service and Sanford AirMed.
