Carrington, N.D. (Valley News Live) UPDATE: The original version of this story indicated that Frances Gasper was a man, but we have now learned that Gasper is a woman. It was also unclear initially if the semi hit the van, but officials with the Highway Patrol have confirmed that the van was rear-ended by the semi. Troopers are still working on the investigation, and we will provide any updates with their report when it is completed.
A woman has been charged with a DUI (Driving Under the Influence) and drug possession after her van caused a semi to crash on Sunday evening west of Carrington.
North Dakota Highway Patrol reports that around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 18th both vehicles were heading eastbound on Highway 52. 56-year-old Frances Gasper was driving a Dodge Van when the hood unhooked and blew up against the windshield. 65-year-old Aron Sorokin was driving the semi swerved to avoid hitting the van, but still crashed into Gasper's vehicle.
