A LaMoure woman was injured when her SUV drifted on the highway and struck a semi after she sneezed.

Michele Eckmann, 41, of LaMoure, was northbound on Highway 281 around 3:37 p.m. Friday when her vehicle drifted into the southbound lane as she sneezed.

That put her in the path of a semi truck driven by Timothy Salberg of Aberdeen, South Dakota.

Salberg attempted to avoid collision by steering the truck and trailer away from the vehicle, but the the SUV struck the tanker trailer loaded with gasoline before coming to rest in the center of the roadway.

Salberg maintained control of the semi as it entered the ditch.

Eckman was transported by ambulance to the Jamestown Regional Medical Center.

No gas was spilled from the trailer.

The crash is being investigated by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
