Grand Forks man arrested after driving car into home

UPDATE: Monday morning, the East Grand Forks Police responded to a report of a car that had ran into a house at 2143 7th Ave NW.

When police arrived on scene they found that a 2005 Ford 500 had destroyed a garden shed on the property and hit the home entering the basement.

Police say the driver of the vehicle was able to run from the scene. 32 year old Jason Poellot of Grand Forks was charged with reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident.

No one was hurt in the accident and police say that alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

ORIGINAL: Four people are shaken up this morning after a car crashed through their basement window.

East Grand Forks police say a call came in around 12:30 a.m. on June 19th, of a car ramming through the side of a home on 22nd St. NW. The car reportedly drove off the road, hit a fence and then struck the lower level family window.

The suspect, a 31-year-old male, fled the scene but was arrested a few hours later for reckless driving and fleeing the scene of an accident.

Police are not releasing his name yet. No one was injured.
