Two fire fighters hurt, family safe after fire destroys West Fargo home

WEST FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) Two firefighters were injured while battling a blaze in West Fargo early Thursday morning.

One firefighter fell from the fire truck and another one fell from a deck on the house.

Both firefighters were taken to the hospital for x-rays.

The homeowner talked to Valley News Live saying he woke up from the roar and cracking of the fire. He woke his wife, and when they stepped out of their room they saw the fire. The 6 people inside managed to get out safely.

A fire fighter spotted the flames, as he was returning from another fire call around 1:00 Thursday morning.

He made sure the family was all out of their home in the 700 block of 17th avenue west, just off Sheyenne Street.

Fire Chief Dan Fuller tells Valley News Live the home is a total loss.

The Fargo Fire Department's Rapid Intervention Team was brought in to help fight the blaze.

Chief Fuller says they have not yet determined the fire's cause, but he says it appears to have started on the outside of the house.
