Body of Brainerd man found in Nokay Lake

BRAINERD, Minn. (KARE 11) Authorities recovered the body of a 54-year-old Brainerd man in Nokay Lake on Saturday.

Just before 8 a.m. Friday, the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office received a call about a man who had not shown up for work for two days. About five minutes later, Sheriff Todd Dahl says they got another call about an abandoned boat floating on Nokay Lake, 10 miles east of Brainerd.

The boat was registered to Raymond Achman, the same man who was missing. Dahl says crews then began searching the lake with sonar.

A man's body was located with sonar and recovered at 9:41 a.m. on Saturday, according to Dahl. The man was identified as Achman.

His body was brought to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner for autopsy.

The Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Minnesota DNR with water and aerial support.
