WASHINGTON D.C. A servicewoman from Detroit Lakes got the opportunity of a lifetime to dance with the new president. Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Catherine Cartmell got the chance to dance with President Trump at Friday's military ball. Cartmell is a religious program specialist in the Office of the Chief of Navy Chaplains. Her dance moves with the president quickly spread across social media with many of her friends sharing pictures of her dancing with Trump.

The party was all about honoring our nation’s heroes. “You are amazing people. I like you for a lot of reasons. Also I like the fact that you all voted for me,” said President Donald Trump. Trump spoke to U.S. troops in Afghanistan via satellite during the ball.

“It’s out of this world. I don’t know how to explain it to you. It’s really cool,” said William Tobin, Delaware Firefighters Association. Trump and his family gathered on stage to dance and thank service members, saying their courage is incredible and appreciated.

“This is absolutely amazing. This is a once in a lifetime event. It’s great,” said Laura Gilbert, Lt. US Coast Guard.
