FARGO, N.D. Representatives with West Acres Mall tells Valley News Live that mall officials chose not to renew the lease for Sears. The retail outlet had been located at the mall for 45 years. West Acres official Chris Heaton says that the expiration of the Sears lease allows the mall to look at several stores that might occupy the space. The full statement from Heaton can be seen below.

West Acres Statement:
"After 45 years at West Acres, we have chosen to not renew Sears lease and they will close this spring. We are grateful for the time they were at West Acres, especially as they have been with us from the start. However, their lease expiration gives us the opportunity to make exciting new updates to the center that will enhance the overall experience for our customers and better suit their needs.

We are finalizing details on the stores that will replace Sears, something we’ve been working on for several years. This is one of several exciting changes anticipated for West Acres in 2017 after very low turnover in recent years. We’ll be making more announcements in the coming months once leases are signed."
