1-week-old baby dies from injuries caused during Watford City, ND tornado

WATFORD CITY, N.D. (Valley News Live) UPDATE: According to McKenzie County Sheriff Gary Schwartzenberger, a 1-week-old baby boy has died from injuries suffered as a result an EF-2 Tornado at Prairie View RV Park early Tuesday morning.

ORIGINAL STORY: A rescue operation is underway in Watford City after an early morning storm slammed through an RV park.

More than two dozen people were hurt when severe weather hit an RV park in Watford City, ND.

The McKenzie County Sheriff's Office says several people are trapped or injured, and there's major damage to property.

Early reports indicate 28 people so far have been treated at the Watford City hospital, and at least three have been lifeflighted to other facilities.

Six people are listed in critical condition.

More than a dozen agencies scrambled to the scene. Officials are asking for volunteers with heavy equipment to help with rescues.

The Red Cross is heading west to help those displaced by the storm.

A shelter has been set up to house victims.
