2 injured after vehicle vs. train collision

Lammers Township, MN (Valley News Live) --- Two have been seriously hurt after their pickup truck collided with a train near Bemidji, Minnesota.

The Beltrami County Sheriff's dispatch center received information from an ONSTAR on Sunday, July 16th at 2:10 p.m.

When officers arrived on scene, the female driver, 73-year-old Janice Callahan was traveling northbound on Centerline Road when she entered the railroad crossing. The crossing is only controlled by a stop sign for north bound traffic.

Callahan was airlifted from the scene to North Memorial Hospital with life threatening injuries.

The passenger, 74-year-old Thomas Burke was transported by ambulance to Sanford Hospital's Emergency Department.

BNSF train engineer Steven Burris was not hurt during the collision.

Alcohol was determined to not be a factor in the crash.
